Ugh! Gum removal help

Ugh! Gum removal help

Postby funnygirl » Mon Mar 01, 2010 9:08 am

At the theatre last night, I sat in gum  It is on the lining of my rain coat, my jeans & my blouse. I stuck my blouse & jeans in the freezer last night, hoping I can try to chip the stuff off tonight. My co-worker suggested Goo Gone.

Any other ideas/thoughts?

I thankfully haven't had to deal with this (yet) but I would think the Goo Gone would be the thing I'd try first. If you haven't used it before, it's something you really ought to have on hand for sticky situations. ;)

Goo Gone will work, but it will leave a grease stain. To get the grease stain out put a bunch of Dawn dish soap on it and let is soak and then wash.

The goo gone got the gum out. I washed the items & line dried last night - won't know if there is a stain until I get home. If so, I will try the Dawn.

Thanks for your help.

Glad it came out. Hope there isn't a stain, but Dawn is a good idea. I haven't tried that before but I have used a white hand de-greaser (Gojo I think) which is good for using on laundry before throwing in it a load of wash. I haven't bought it for quite some time (are my kids getting less messy?!), but I'm not sure I've seen it in the plain white and I'm not sure I'd try the orange on the laundry unless it said it won't stain....
