My beloved, beloved, beloved New Orleans Saints are one game away from destiny (***knocking wood furiously***). They play the Vikings on Sunday for the NFC Championship. This is a killer because Brett Favre is from a teeny town called Kiln, Mississippi (they call Kiln "The Kill") that is about an hour away. Favre is a local hero somewhat because of his close proximity and he is also a Saints fan. Eek!
For those of you who are not into football and don't care either way, I shamefully beg for a prayer things go our way. For those of you who don't know the history, the Saints have NEVER been to a SB and have only been to the playoffs a handful of times in our 40+ year history. However, Saints fans are die hard, and our blood runs "black and gold." When Katrina hit in 2005, our stadium was torn to shreds and wasn't reopened until the following year. Of course NOLA is still recovering from the effects of Katrina and although shallow and somewhat silly, soooo many people still in "recovery" mode are hanging onto high hopes for this season for dear life. The team's record has been AWESOME for the economy in NOLA, which is something BADLY needed. The devastation that is still remaining in some areas of town is mind-boggling. This AP report sums it up in a pretty decent minute and a half:

PS: WHO DAT and GEAUX SAINTS!
