Re: Electronic Cookbook?

I have 2 cookbooks on my Nook... and since it reads PDF I've been seriously tempted to create my own favorites cookbook, copy and paste style.

Re: Sayings that are outdated so kids don't get them

Cam recently checked out a library book called Popular Phrases: Origins and Meanings it was fun listing to him and Tev giggling over where some of these sayings come from. Like "knuckle under".

Re: Sayings that are outdated so kids don't get them

LOL... actually my kids know what priming the pump means because we have to do that on the pool pump after emptying the leaf collector.

but yup... sounding like broken record is one of them.

I'll have to think of some others.

Re: Easy Pumpkin Spice Cake

This was a huge hit at our house. I'm just wondering how I'd change the baking time / temp to make cupcakes vs a 9x13 cake. It would allow me to freeze them for later consumption and control portions better.

So ladies... any ideas?

Re: football helmet help

not I said the cat... but bleck

Actually have you tried putting baking soda in it? Just sprinking it inside and letting it soak up odors? Or even putting it in a bag with baking soda?

Re: Anyone know about Webkinz?

All of my boys have webkinz and Cam even still plays with his friend K some times. One trick is to make sure that DD is in the right "color" as well as the right party. Took C a while to figure that one out.

Re: tipping movers?

Seriously... I've never tip'd movers in my life. Never even thought to. Of course the movers were always paid for by the company moving us and I was never around when they were packing, loading or unloading... DH was. And I can guarantee he never even considered it.

Free e-book websites

So now that I have my Nook, I've found several sites that have legitamate free e-books and I'm always looking for more. So here are the ones I know about. Anyone else have others? The local digital library Baen Free (for those who like Fantasy and/or SciFi) http://www.baen.com/library/ Barnes and No...

Re: Nook vs. Kindle

Amy, that is too funny! So cute. One of the features I love is that I can share my books. Right now I have only one purchased book which is The Girl With The Tattoo Dragon . I can just plug into my PC and send it to you (via email I think) and you can download it to your Nook. So cool! Too bad my M...

Re: Nook vs. Kindle

Janet - Yes as long as I can attach to a wifi 3G network I can download and even surf the internet on my nook. although the surfing isn't super easy. I do have a hot link to my local library and can get books from there easily. Love that feature as I prefer the library anymore even for my non e read...

Re: Nook vs. Kindle

I love my Nook. I can get lots of various free e-books. It reads all formats except the Amazon proprietary. So it will take stuff from your local digital library. I do that a lot. Every week B&N has an internet free book. Some I've really liked some were not my taste. If you go into a B&N wi...

Re: Benefits of a union?

I've worked in Union and Non-union environments so I'll try to be as balanced as I can even though I despise much of the union mentality. Positives: [*]unions negotiate much better salaries and benefits for their employees [*]unions ensure that a person assigned to a specific job HAS actually been t...

Re: staying up late

Patti - you aren't the only one with rules. I just realized I couldn't force them to sleep, I could only force them into bed. They are all in their rooms either reading or playing quietly by 8:00. More for me than them. During the school year it's lights out at 8:30 for the younger 2 although at 12 ...
